Sorry I have not posted in a while. It’s been a very busy few weeks, but I am back. I have so much to share from these weeks. Someone recently commented asking a question regarding a post I made a few months back. The comment reads:

I would love to answer your questions, but I have to warn you that this could be a very, very, very long post. I’m probably going to answer in a series of shorter posts over the next couple of weeks.
Some of the top reasons I believe in God are:
1. I believe wholeheartedly that the Word of God is the truth and is alive. Several things prove this for me. One in particular is the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The Bible lines up almost perfectly to the manuscripts found on these scrolls, and these scrolls date back nearly to the final written book of the Bible almost 2,000 years ago. Just the fact that the Bible is still around and so widely followed is amazing to me. Two more reasons are the way the life stories written accurately line up with history and the fact that about 2,000 of the approximately 2,500 prophecies (foretelling of future events) found in the Bible have accurately come true. Wow, those two facts alone blow my mind. I don’t know how God does it, but He speaks through the Bible into so many lives including mine.
2. Since I believe the Word of God is real and true, I next look at the stories told of the lives of the people throughout the Bible. I learn so much from them. The lives of the disciples in particular. These dudes followed Jesus so very passionately. They must have seen something pretty trustworthy for 11 of the 12 disciples to die as martyrs. They didn’t just experience something they thought was maybe real or were trying to pull off a hoax. If this was the case, then about the time the 2nd or 3rd disciple had been violently killed, the rest of the disciples would have run as fast as possible away from the group. These bold men actually continued to their very death to spread the good news to anyone and everyone they met. These guys were some loyal followers.
3. By far, the reason that I believe in God the most is based on what He has done in my own life. I spent many years trying to depend on “me”, and it was basically a disaster until I got right with God. I stayed in trouble and ended up in one bad situation after another. I ran from God, questioned my faith (I grew up in church) and ended up a broken down mess. When I have relied on myself, I’ve gone nowhere fast! After falling into what felt like a bottomless pit, I finally came back to God. My life has been truly changed, and He’s re-written my story. I don’t want to try to live without God. He is real to me. Once I truly experienced Jesus for who He truly is, I have never wanted to depend on myself without Him. He speaks to me in so many ways and makes Himself more real to me day after day.
I’m sure I will have more to say in the days/weeks to come as I ponder the questions. I sincerely hope this helps. If you have more questions, please let me know.
